What is diaphragm?
  • It is a latex barrier, tower shaped and 5-10 cm wide. It covers the cervix and presents a barrier between the eggs and the sperm
  • It is inserted before the intercourse and applied with spermicidal lubricant. It is removed at least six hours after the sexual intercourse
What are the advantages?
  • There are no side-effects
  • It helps during protection from cervical cancer
  • It is used during a sexual intercourse only
What are the disadvantages?
  • It doesn’t prevent sexually spread diseases
  • It can be unreliable and requires careful handling
  • For its first time, it is inserted by a specialized person
  • The procedure is done during a sexual intercourse
