The vaginal infection, Candidom, is also named as vaginal Candidiasis . It can be very unpleasant, but for healthy women it doesn’t cause many problems. It usually occurs at pregnancy, among patients who have diabetes and after use of antibiotics. Three out of four women are going to have Candidiasis at least once in their life. It’s not often linked with sex, but it can be spread during unprotected anal or vaginal sex, oral sex and rimming.
What does the infection look like? This fungus disease is characterized by unpleasant itching of the sexual organs with strong, white, thick and cheesy secretion, with a specific sweet smell, from the vagina or from the top of the penis. The vagina and vulva become swollen, red and painful. On the vulva, cracks of the mucous can be found. The sexual intercourse can be painful. During urination stinging can occur, because urine irritates the damaged surface of the vulva.
What should I do? Contact your practitioner. Candidiasis is treated with special drugs – antimycotics – and you will get the prescription its use.
How to evade the disease?
- Avoid wear of tight clothes
- Avoid synthetic underwear and thongs
- Don’t wear pantyhose whole day
- Avoid moistening of the vaginal area
- Avoid wearing wet bathing suits – always change after leaving the swimming pool or sea
- After a swim or shower, dry your genital area with a hair dryer at its lowest temperature
- After urination and shower, always wipe your sexual organ from front to back, because otherwise bacteria from the colon could get near your genital area
- Drink yogurt and other acidophilic products in larger quantities during treatment with antibiotics
- Reduce the use of carbon hydrates and alcohol
- Don’t wash your sexual organ with shampoos and don’t spray it with deodorant. Avoid using perfumed tampons, inserts and toilet papers
